As a child, my favorite part of visiting the dentist was sitting in the waiting room reading Highlights magazine. For those of you too young to know of this little treasure, Highlights is (it’s still available today!!) a magazine for children filled with informational articles, stories, and best of all … the hidden pictures puzzle! I loved finding the rake or the ball or the flower! I can totally remember the sense of accomplishment when I located all of the hidden items. And I found the whole process fascinating. How could I have missed that rake hidden in the leaves of the tree? How could I have missed the flower in the bushes? When I looked at the big picture, I didn’t see the items. It was only when I became aware of the item that I was able to find it. Sometimes, we don’t “see” things until we become “aware” -- until we focus on something specific. We communicate every day, but we can communicate more effectively if we become “aware” of specific strategies sometimes hidden in the big picture. etc Strategies can help you and your employees become more “aware” of these easy-to-implement communication strategies and better “see” your big picture.
